Mrs. Henry Viereck Called by Death - October 10, 1931
Mrs. Henry Viereck of near Granite, a resident of this vicinity since 1896, was called by death suddenly at her home Saturday morning by heart trouble. Mrs. Viereck had apparently been in good health, attending party in Larchwood Friday evening, and was making plans for her Sunday dinner, to which guests had been invited when she dropped dead.

Mrs. Viereck was born at Davenport June 28, 1878, and was educated in the schools of the city. On November 9, 1894 she was united in marriage to Henry Viereck at Davenport. To this union six children were born, four of whom survive, Harry, Paul, Mrs. Adaline Hartman, and Miss Ella Viereck, one died in infancy and Frank, who died in February 16, 1924. Her husband, one sister, Mrs. Hans Schneckloth of Eldridge, and two brothers, Chris and Frank Blake, both of Davenport, also survive.

With her husband she moved to Rowena, South Dakota, in the spring of 1896 and moved to Granite in the fall of 1911, where she has since made her home. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the residence at 1:00 o'clock and from the Community church in Larchwood at 2:00 o'clock, Rev. T. H. Harding , pastor of the Community church officiating. Burial was in the Larchwood cemetery, E. M. Christianson of Hills, Minnesota in charge.

Out of town friends and relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Anderson of Hartford, South Dakota, Mr. and Mrs. Herman Viereck, Kimball, South Dakota, Mrs. Henry Hahn, Schleswig, Mr. and Mrs. L.D. Hahn, Miss Agnes Hahn, Mrs. Peter Moore and Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Bendixon of Schleswig.
