Funeral services for John Henry Bockmon, 83, pioneer resident of Collingsworth County, will be held Thursday afternoon, May 13 at 2:30 from the Samnorwood Baptist Church.

A retired farmer and a native of Texas, Mr. Bockman died May 11 at his home near Plymouth. He was born in Wood County, December 14, 1853, and at the time of his death was eighty-three years, four months and twenty-seven days of age. He was the son of William Weaver and Malinda Bockmon.

He was married to Mahala Ann Shakelford on January 8, 1889, and thirty six years ago he came here from Johnson County.

During the years here, Mr. Bockmon was well known for the interest he took in community affairs. As a member of the Plymouth Baptist church, he found time for active service in that field throughout his life. He was one of the oldest men in the Plymouth Community and was respected by all who knew him. He had been a farmer all his life.

Mrs. Bockmon died three years ago last November, and Mr. Bockmon had been in ill health since that time. A son, Oren Bockmon, and a daughter, Mrs. Ida Skinner, made their home with him.

Survivors include eight children: Mrs. Ida Skinner, Mrs. C. W. Bradley, Plymouth; H. A. Bockmon, Shamrock; Mrs. Ethel Jones, Vinson, OK; Lofton Bockmon, Erick; Marvin Bockmon, Durham, OK; Oren Bockmon and Elmer Bockmon, Plymouth. Nineteen grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.
