Incurable, She Kills Herself
Woman Takes Poison and Is Found Dead on Bed by Husband
Despondent as a result of poor health and the knowledge that she had been stricken with an incurable disease, Mrs. Agnes Hodgkiss, 46, of 26 Mill Road, committed suicide yesterday afternoon by drinking a quantity of lysol. When her husband returned home from work last night he found his wife's body stretched out on the bed.
After his own efforts to arrouse her had proved futile, Mr. Hodgkiss ran to the street and summoned Patrolman Evans of the Montgomery Street station. The officer telephoned the City Hospital for an ambulance and Dr. Piero responded. When Dr. Piero reached the house he said that Mrs. Hodgkiss had been dead for more than two hours.
Neighbors last saw Mrs. Hodgkiss abour 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon. She drank most of the contents of a four-ounce bottle of lysol. The empty bottle was found on the floor beside her bed.
