Cyril M. "Bud" Van Sickle, 95, of Bradenton, Fla., died at his residence Nov. 8, 2011.

He was born May 20, 1916, in Seneca, Mich., and married Fern Dentel of Onsted, Mich., on June 19, 1937. She preceded him in death Jan. 18, 1990. He married Ruth Lohman of Waterford, Maine, April 14, 1992.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. And also an avid fisherman who taught many friends and family members the joy of fishing. He was a devoted member and trustee of West Adrian United Church of Christ in Adrian, Mich., and the United Methodist Church in Palmetto, Fla. He was an electrician in the IBEW Local 8 of Toledo, Ohio, retiring to Florida in 1985.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth; daughter and son-in-law, Dan Zimmerman of Bradenton, Fla.; son and daughter-in-law, Herbert and Diane of Grand Forks, N.D.; son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Candace of Manitou Beach, Mich.; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Karl Schneeberger of Wadsworth, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Alyene and Norma; daughter, Patricia Anderson; and grandson, Kory Allen.

A visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14, 2011, with a service to follow at 2 p.m. at Groover Funeral Home at Mansion Memorial Park in Ellenton. Memorial contributions may be made to Tidewell Hospice, 5955 Rand Boulevard, Sarasota, Fla. 34238.
