Joseph L. Adkisson, 49, Stanley, died at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital, at 11:15 a.m. today [January 11, 1952] after a short illness. Mr. Adkisson had lived in Stanley for the last 16 years. For 17 years he was engaged as a salesman for the Home Oil and Gas Co., of Henderson. Born in Rome, February 16, 1902, he was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Stanley, and of the Holy Name Society. Surviving are the widow, Mrs. Mary Helen Mitchell Adkisson; one son, Fred, Stanley; three daughters, Mrs. Charles Clark, Henderson, Misses Sally & Mary T. Adkisson, Stanley; two brothers, Gilbert and Manuel, of East Prairie, MO; two sisters, Mrs. Carl Groscurth, and Mrs. Jack Blake, both of Detroit. The body was taken to the Davis Funeral Home.
