Mr. A. W. Bowen of 461 Fox street, for forty five years a resident of the state, died Monday morning, June 22, after an illness of nine weeks with flu and pneumonia, terminating in heart trouble.
Mr. Bowen was sixty one years old. He was born near Elgin, Ill., November 28, 1863. He came to Colorado in 1880 and was engaged in the sawmill business with his father at Buffalo for four years, when he came to Denver and was employed as painter at the Rio Grande shops until 1887. For the past twenty seven years he worked at his trade in the employee the Tramway Co. He was a member of Camp No. 1, Knights of the Maccabees, and was held in high esteem by all who knew him.
Besides his wife, Mrs. May B. Bowen, he leaves a daughter, Mrs. Amy F. Haag, and a son, Harold F Bowen both of Denver; also two brothers and a sister in California.
The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, at Yeager's. Bro. Spargo, pastor of Highlands M.E. church, officiated. Interment was in Fairmount cemetery. The pallbearers were Messrs, Matt Ballantyne, James smith and E. Kingsley, Fellow workers at the Tramway paint Shops.
