Mr. Rhodes was born in Morseville, Jo Daviess county, son of Andrew and Julia Herring Rhodes. He married Pearl Bohm Sept. 21, 1912.
He lived in Stockton all his married life except for 18 years when he operated a blacksmith shop in Kent. He was a member of Plum River Masonic lodge, Stockton, and Modern Woodmen of America.
Surviving are his widow and six sisters, Mrs. Walter Dow and Mrs. Earl Kaiser, Stockton; Mrs. Grover Starr and Mrs. Wallace Trost, Freeport; Mrs. Nellie Leitzen, Warren; and Mrs. Shirley Penhollow, Rockford.
