Robert "Bob" Leroy Gerke, a Prineville resident, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009. He was 72 years old.
A Memorial service will be held on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009 at 12 p.m. at Prineville Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Juniper Haven Cemetery.
Robert was born in Prineville on October 9, 1937 to Jay Stephen & Hazel Victoria (Elliot) Gerke. He attended and graduated from Crook County High School. He married Joan Marie Braly in Redmond, Ore., on August 29, 1958.
He worked for Ochoco Lumber from 1956 to 1961. In 1962 he went to work for Carnation in Oakland, Calif. He moved back to Central Oregon in 1972 and went to work for Eberhards Dairy; retiring in 2000. Robert later worked part time for Les Schwab until May of 2009.
Bob enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, bowling, camping and gardening.
Bob is survived by his wife Joan M. Gerke; sons, Larry Jay and his wife Leslie Gerke, and Daniel Duane Gerke both of Prineville; daughters, Vick June and her husband Bill Kloepper of Prineville, and Jan Kathaleen Goodsen of Nashville, Tennessee; brother Gerald Duane and his wife Shirley Gerke of Madras, Ore.; five grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and an older brother, Jay S. Gerke Jr. in 1996.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Pioneer Memorial Hospice, Cancer Center of the Cascades
