She is the daughter of William Thomas Baxter 1838 – 1893 and Tonelia Catherine Hendricks 1845 – 1935

She married George Washington Garner, son of George Washington Garner 1815 – 1883 and Hester Ann Graham 1837 – 1906

Funeral for Mrs. Florida Texas Garner of De Leon will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday in the Higginbotham Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Bohannon officiating. Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery at Comanche. Mrs. Garner, who had lived at Breckenridge 30 years prior to her move to De Leon five years ago died at 2:35 p. m. Sunday in the De Leon Hospital where she had been a patient 10 days. A member of the First Christian Church, she has been a practical nurse for a number of years. Born February 5th, 1881 in Ellis County, Texas. She married George W. Garner April 18, 1898 in Comanche County, Texas. He died in 1948.
Survivors include one son, John William Garner of San Bernardino, California, daughters Mrs. Oma L. Henderson of De Leon; Mrs. Opal Erwin of Blanket, Mrs. Nancy O. Chandler of El Paso, Mrs. Laura Tennison of Texas City, Texas, Mrs. Maurice Thompson of Richland, Wash., Mrs. June Williams of Ranger, Texas; Mrs. Ruth Tipton, Mrs. Florence Tipton and Mrs. Dorothy J. Sakas, all of Irving; two brothers, James Baxter of Batesville, and Dee Baxter of Uvalde; one sister, Mrs. Lurah B. Kelly of Brownwood; 29 grandchildren, 42 great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren.
