Funeral services for Hattie Margaret Hunton are 2:00 pm, Tuesday May 23, 2017 at Green Country Funeral Home. Officiating will be Dr. Calvin Cole. Pallbearers are Larry Halpain, Kenny Halpain, Joe Halpain, John Ray Halpain, Leon Halpain, Gerald Halpain, Luther Halpain and Chuch Bailey. Hattie Margaret Hunton was born September 16, 1917, in Hulbert, Oklahoma to Phillip S and Vina E (Morgan) Halpain Sr. She passed away on May 20, 2017, at the age of 99.

She was raised in the Hulbert area where she was born and attended school. She went to Bagley High School before Hulbert began a bus route. She then went to Hulbert High were she was a 1936 graduate.

In August 1939 she married Ray Hunton in Arkansas. Hattie worked for the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Agency for many years, taking time away to begin a family. When she moved to Pryor in 1956 she began working at Safeway Grocery as a Meat Wrapper. Hattie loved to fish, taking trips with Ray to the Gulf and to Canada before his health failed. She loved her family and was the caretaker of the pets other family could no longer take care of. These included duck, cats, dogs, and a turtle to name a few. She liked sewing, making family clothes, crocheting, and crafts of all kinds. She was a good cook, and later in life she enjoyed reading and working crossword puzzles.

Preceding her in death are her husband V. Ray Hunton, daughter Mary Elizabeth Hunton, son Haskell Ray Hunton, two grandsons Steven Ray Hunton and Geoffrey Allen Jones; four brothers William C., Virgil, Howard Buster, and Kenneth Halpain; two sisters Hazel Garroutte, and Edna Bailey.

She is survived by her daughter Margaret Hunton and husband Johnny Mitchell of Locust Grove; granddaughter, Tracy George of Tulsa; great granddaughter, Hillary Locke and husband Jacob of Tahlequah; two great granddaughters, Olivia and Odette Locke of Tahlequah; brother, Phillip Halpain and wife Virginia of Lost City; sister in law, Lucy Halpain; close family friend, Ed Wells; 16 nieces and nephews, and their families; and many other relatives, friends, and loved ones.
