Samuel Chriswell Baker is the brother of Robert Criswell Baker of Appanoose County. They both entered Iowa about 1850 from Scott Co, Indiana and entered into farming. Their parents were Hugh Baker and Margaret Criswell of Henry Co, Ky and later Scott Co, Indiana.
