He lived at Route 2 on the Belspring Road.
He was an elder, past deacon, and Sunday School Superintendent of the Belspring Presbyterian Church, and a retired employee of New River Textiles.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Tice Akers; two sisters, Mrs. Dosha Duncan, Belspring and Mrs. Ruby Bernard, Norfolk; two brothers, Mason Akers, Richmond; Freeman Akers; Radford; also several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. at the Belspring Presbyterian Church with Rev. Manson B. Tate officiating. Burial will be in Sunrise Burial Park. Friends may call at Seaver-Sanders Funeral Home.
