Born in Clare,Ireland in 1828. Came to America around 1850 & first settled in New York City where he met his wife Mary McCann and were married there in 1853. Shortly after marriage they went to Steubenville,OH where their first child William was born in 1854. Shortly after that they went to Kentucky and stayed about 7 years. In 1862 they went to Manitowoc Co. Wi. and settled in the town of Cato. They lived & farmed there for over 30 years. They left that area around 1895 and spent their final years in the Bayview section of Milwaukee where their oldest son William was a fairly high ranking official at the Marquette university medical college. They had 2 grandsons who became doctors in that same area of Milwaukee.
