Evelyn Borowski, 93, of Wilmington, Delaware, passed away at St. Francis Hospital Compassionate Care Hospice on October 31, 2011.

Born on February 29, 1918 in Philadelphia, she was one of ten children of Alexander and Veronica Konrad. Evelyn married Adolph Borowski, an aeronautical engineer of some accomplishment, on July 2, 1939. She and Adolph lived for many years in the family home in Colwyn, Pennsylvania before settling in retirement in Sea Isle City, New Jersey and Marco Island, Florida. Since 2005 she has lived at Rockland Place Assisted Living in Wilmington.

Evelyn was "Rosie the Riveter" in the Second World War, assembling bombs at a General Electric factory in Philadelphia. After the war she was a computer card keypuncher.

Evelyn is survived by her two daughters and their husbands, Carol and Bob Furlow of Hernando, Florida, and Marie and David Sorber of Wilmington, Delaware; two grandchildren, Barbara Durning of Yardley, Pennsylvania, and James Furlow and his wife Cheryl of Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania; two great-grandchildren, Jack Durning and Hana Furlow, her sister, Ann DeSimone and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Adolph in 1995 and her daughter Joan in 2001.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, November 12th at 11 am at St. Joseph on the Brandywine Church, 8 Old Church Rd., in Greenville, where family and friends may visit from 10:30 to 11:00 am.

A private interment will be held the following week in Holy Cross Cemetery, Yeadon, Pennsylvania.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Evelyn to the St. Joseph Building Fund, 126 44th Street, Sea Isle City, New Jersey 08243, or to the charity of your choice .
