Eva Grunewald Fremont passed away on Monday, November 7, 2011 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Eva was born in Berlin on February 27, 1932 to Paul and Edith Grunewald, German Jews.

At the age of four her family left Germany and came to the United States; they chose New York as the place in which to begin their new lives. It was there that Eva fell in love with the arts and music, passions that would continue throughout her entire life.

A graduate of Marymount School of New York and Barnard, she worked in New York in public relations until 1978 when she married William Fremont and joined him to live in California.

Eva dedicated much of her energy and time to various charities and foundations, including Center Theater Group Affiliates, Club 100 Music Center, The National Museum of Women in the Arts, UCLA, and The Founding Associates of The John Douglas French Alzheimer's Foundation.

In addition to music and the arts, she also had a great interest in food and wine, and she and her husband were members of the American Institute of Wine and Food and Knights of the Vine. Their fervent love of travel took them around the globe to destinations on all seven continents.

Eva was preceded in death by William Darrick Fremont, her husband of thirty-three years. She is survived by her daughter Suzanne Fremont-Bethurum; son-in-law Daniel Bethurum; grandsons Hudson William Fremont and Harrison James Chittenden and wife Ashleigh; great-grandchildren Kayden and Rylie Chittenden; and sister-in-law Eugenie Beeler.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Hillside Memorial Park & Mortuary, 6001 West Centinela Avenue, Culver City.
