James Monroe Sneed married his first wife, Martha Laurena "Mattie" Hembree, on March 24, 1898. James and Mattie were the parents of Walter, Ethel, Benjamin, William, Charles, Martha, and Elmer. James' second wife was Mollie James, and his third was Elva Elizabeth Dehart. After James Monroe Sneed passed away, Elva married James C. Beasley on July 18, 1959 in Cherokee County. Her name on the marriage document was "Elva Sneed."
