Note: While the Fairfield Daily Ledger obituary used the phonetic spelling of the surname as being "Toothacre", the surname found in Lockridge cemetery is "Toothaker". These name variations have caused certain problems in making memorials by various contributors of Toothaker individuals.

TO BE BURIED AT LOCKRIDGE

Mark Ellsworth TOOTHACRE, former Burlington, Iowa, banker and long-time railroad employee, passed away yesterday afternoon at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Ed WESTON, after a lingering illness.

He had made his home with his daughter at Glendale east of Fairfield for the past 10 months and had been in failing health during that period.

Toothacre passed away on the same farm where he was born over 86 years ago. He was born August 15, 1865, the son of the late Reuben and Mercy RIPLEY TOOTHACRE, pioneer residents of Jefferson county.

He was united in marriage in 1892 to Eva Jane ARCHIBALD who survives. The wedding took place at Estherville, Iowa.

Besides being well known in banking circles throughout Iowa, TOOTHACRE was also well known in the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Patriot Lodge, A.F. and A.M. at Burlington and a past master of the organization. He was also a member of other lodges of the order.

He had made his home at Burlington for many years until his health failed him some time ago and he came to Jefferson county to make his home with his daughter. The family home is located at .....

Last rites will be at the First Baptist church in Burlington next Saturday at 2 p.m. The body will be taken from the Prugh funeral chapel in Burlington to the church at 10 a.m. Saturday and will lie in state until time for the services. Burial will be in the Lockridge cemetery with Masonic rites at the grave at 4 p.m.

Besides his wife, he is survived by one son, Dr. Harold TOOTHACRE, Burlington; two daughters, Mrs. Laird HAGIE, Burlington, and Mrs. WESTON, six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
