Parks has many descendents who through the years have done his genealogy, adding their information as a descendent. Parks died at the home of his son Francis Brittain. The children of Francis was good about telling information to Iva S. a grandchild of Parks daughter Mary. Joyce met Iva before Iva died in Iowa, going to the auction of her estate also. I was told by one of the relatives that there had been a fire at the home of where one of the important Bible's was and everything burned except some sea shells. One of the sons of Francis wrote a story for us about the family. The Skinner Cemetery was not around in the 1880 history of Keokuk County (Joyce owns a copy) but the graves is to have been moved to Mt. Zion Cemetery. Skinner Cemetery was on the property of Joel Skinner. Joyce lived in Sigourney, Keokuk County Iowa for quite awhile, at two different times. I did the site for Keokuk County GenWeb and went to all of the cemeteries taking pictures. In the old time, when a family member died they were buried on the land. Through the years new owners of that land did not respect the burials and they used the cemetery just like it did not have any burials so the cemetery and the burial disappeared. In the case of Skinner cemetery the graves is supposed to have been moved and a road put through there. The wife of Joel Skinner was to have been one of the burials from Skinner that was moved. Dedamia Richardson Skinner's grave is in Mt. Zion Cemetery. I had all of the pictures of the Keokuk County American Local History Network site which I created but when I gave the site up, I do not know what happened to the pictures of the cemetery, but I still have all of the pictures on a zip drive of that site. As for Parks Britton/Brittain there has been much written about him and his parents, and sibling and children. There has been several published books also, but they are out of print. Many, many, many Parks Britton/Brittain descendants are still in contact with Joyce. Also, many, many descendants of all of Parks children and Parks's sibling. Joyce can't seem to get Keokuk County Iowa out of her system, she plans to go back, Joyce still maintains a checking & savings account there. Many, many people of the county are related to me, either through the Brittain family or the Jones family.Larry G. Flesher has made a suggestion to you regarding your Find A Grave memorial for Francis Brittain.
