Albert volunteered for the Union Army at Hollidaysburg, Pa. on February 29, 1864 per military records at the National
Archives. Albert served in the Civil War as a private in Company "B", McKeage's Independent Infantry Regiment of the Pa. Militia and as a corporal in Company "E" of the 13th Penna. Cavalry dying in the War. Killed on 13 Apr 1865 at Raleigh, N.C. This information recorded in Bates History of the Civil War.
