June Curtis, 89, of Sherman, formerly of Jacksonville, died Thursday, Oct. 9, 2003, at Villa Health Care East in Sherman. She was born April 11, 1914, in El Dara, the daughter of Henry and Phylora Hornback Chamberlain. She married John Franklin Curtis in 1940 in St. Louis; he died in 1995. Survivors: two daughters, Pam Shier of Miami and Chris (husband, Bruce) Fenimore of Springfield; three sons, John F. (wife, Susan) of Cotuit, Mass., William (wife, Paula) of Lafayette, Calif. and Phillip (wife, Chris) of Carmichael, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Mrs. Curtis attended the Universtiy of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She was a food-service director for Chicago Heights Bloom Township High School, Deerfield High School and Highland Park High Schoo. She also was the manager of the Cypress Room Restaurant and Coffee Shop. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a past president of Zonta and the Business and Professional Women of Springfield. She was a founding member of the Springfield Symphony Orchestra. She also was a member of Illini Country Club, Jacksonville Country Club, Springfield Art Association, Order of the Eastern Star and Daughters of the American Revolution. Graveside services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Taylor-Martin Cemetery in El Dara. Cody and Son Memorial Home is in charge of arrangements.
