Funeral services were held in the Midvale Fourth Ward Chapel Saturday at 11:00 a.m. for Bruce Calder, 82, of Midvale, former resident of Vernal, who died Friday afternoon in a Murray hospital of injuries suffered in a fall at his home.
Mr. Calder was born June 23, 1885 in Salt Lake City to George and Mary Bennion Calder. He married Margaret Hamilton September 25, 1907 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died in 1946.
Mr. Calder grew up in Calder Park in Salt Lake City, now known as Nibley Park, which was the firsdt recreational park between Missouri River and Golden Gate.
He came to Vernal in 1905. He was a custodian at Cyprus High School. He was a high priest in the Midvale Fourth Ward; served in the bishopric of Roosevelt Ward and presidency of Roosevelt Stake. He was also president of his high priest group, Pleasant Grove Stake.
A resident of Magna for 25 years, Mr. Calder was a Midvale resident for the past few years.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Garrett (Dorothy) Stone, Midvale; 22 grandchildren; sister, Dora Cook, Nephi.
Attending the services from Vernal were Mr. and Mrs. Zelph Calder and Edgar Calder.
Burial was in the Vernal Memorial Cemetery. Russell Todd dedicated the grave. Following the burial, 70 family members met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Zelph Calder.
