Dallas Morning News, 30 December 1991: Miss Nannie Margaret Fitzhugh was born in Oak Cliff, a longtime resident of 826 North Clinton. Her mother was Minnie Irene Daniel, [great] granddaughter of Frances Sims Daniel who came to Texas in 1849 with her sister and six children, and purchased property which is now Snider Plaza in the Park Cities. Her father was Stephen Siler Fitzhugh of Lancaster, Texas. Miss Fitzhugh graduated from Oak Cliff High School and attended Southern Methodist University from 1929-1933. In 1933-1934 she earned a graduate degree in English from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. For forty years (1934-1974) she was a member of the SMU faculty, teaching in the English Department. Graveside services at the Fitzhugh family plot in Edgewood Cemetery, Lancaster, Texas.
