1820 thru 1910, U.S. Federal Census Reports:
-Theresa Abigail (Bushnell) Brainard was born 2 Jul 1818. She was the daughter of Abigail (Husted) and Myron Bushnell of Starksboro, Addison County, VT. The Bushnell family moved from VT to NY in circa 1833 when Theresa A. was about 15 years old. In about 1836 Theresa A. married William Henri Brainard in NY. March 1837 brought them their first child Helen. Theresa A., Wm. H. and Helen moved circa 1838 to Granger, Medina County, OH where they had three of their children, Celia, Henry and William.
-Census report: 1850 shows Theresa A. and Wm. H. living in Cambridge, Henry County, IL and is where they were living when they had Cora and Charles.
-Census report: 1860 shows Theresa A. and Wm. H. living in Summerset, Adair County, IA.
-Census report: 1870 shows Theresa A. and Wm. H. living in Lincoln, Poweshiek County, IA.
-In the spring of 1875, the Brainard family moved to Hopkins, Nodaway County, MO.
-Census report: 1880 shows Theresa A. and Wm. H. living in Hopkins, Nodaway County, MO where they remained until the death of Wm H. in 1887. Somethime between 1887 and 1900, Theresa A. left her home to live with her oldest daughter and family.
-Census report: 1900 shows Theresa A. age 82, living with her daughter Helen (Brainard) and Ira Hested family in Hico, Benton County, AR.
-Census report: 1910 shows Theresa A. age 92, living in an, "Old Ladies Home" in Cedar Rapids, Linn County, IA.
-Theresa A. (Bushnell) Brainard mother of the late Henry Kirk Brainard of this city died at her home in Cedar Rapids. She was brought to Hopkins for burial.
-Mrs. Husted was with her at the time of her death.
