Levia's uncle the Honorable Anson Burlingame, Congressman from Massachusetts, was appointed Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary to the Qing Empire (China)
by Abraham Lincoln on March 22, 1861 .

She was also the great great granddaughter of Revolutionary War hero Colonel Israel Angell who's diary is still available in book form. Colonel Angell was commended in a letter signed by General George Washington. He also received gold medals from General George Washington and the Marquis de La Fayette.

The great theologian and founder of Providence Plantations Roger Williams (1602-1683) was her 6th great-grandfather.

Levia Hinman Luce is buried in the Sheridan
Cemetery in Block 95 plot #6 between her father Justus Hinman who died in 1896 (plot #5) and her mother Betsey Burlingame (plot #7) who died in 1901.
