All his siblings where thought to be born in Kentucky. Their father Henry T. Higdon, bought the old Stephen Goin Mott and later Elizabeth Elliot Mott farm around 1880. It is located a few miles west of Roanoke, Missouri. The property is on the south side of the road where State Rd. 129 turns north toward Salisbury. Later, in 1900, just down the road from his fathers farm Finis bought the 220 acres of the old Jim Freeman place. The old farmstead house was standing as late as around 2010? Torn down now with nothing built on the site. There are many known stories about the family growing up and living on this farm. A short memoir of Frances Willard Higdon Morton(a daughter) gives many good insights into their families lives. Much more on this later!
He died on his farm of prostate cancer in 1938. Some relatives tried to make a go of the farm for several years after his death but eventually it was sold for taxes!
