San Diego Union-Tribune, The (CA) - Sunday, December 11, 2005
Deceased Name: LOREMAN, DANIEL D.
Daniel D. Loreman died on Friday, November 25, 2005 from complications caused by a head injury he suffered during a fall. Born on July 12, 1933 in Thayer, Nebraska,
Dan moved to Barstow, California when he was two years old and spent his youth there, graduating from Barstow High in 1951. In 1953 Dan was drafted and spent two years in the Army, serving primarily in Japan.

Dan wed Rosemary Hartwick, also of Barstow, in December of 1956. The couple ultimately settled in Spring Valley, buying a home there in 1967, where they raised their two children and where Dan resided until his death.

Dan earned his BA in Industrial Arts and a teaching credential from San Diego State College in 1960, followed by a Master of Arts in Secondary Education in 1969.

He spent his 30-year teaching career at Mount Miguel High School in Spring Valley, specializing in auto shop and other vocational technology classes. He retired from teaching in 1990.

Dan was an avid camper and fisherman, and the Loremans enjoyed innumerable desert camping trips with good friends and family. Known as an expert mechanic who could fix anything, Dan was always at work on some project or other. He built indestructible dune buggies in the early years, eventually achieving a long-time goal of building his own motorhome from the ground up.

Throughout his retirement he continued to serve as the neighborhood mechanic, earning the admiration of many neighbors and friends who relied on his expertise to keep things running.

Dan is survived by ex-wife Rosemary Loreman of La Mesa, son Jeff Loreman of Spring Valley, daughter Brenda Loreman of Hayward; sister Beverly Shirbroun of Twenty-Nine Palms, and brother Bill Loreman of San Bernardino. A Memorial Celebration of Dan's life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on January 15, 2006, at the home of friends and neighbors Paul and Gene Martin in Spring Valley. Contributions may be made to the Dan Loreman Scholarship Fund through the Cuyamaca College Foundation, 900 Rancho San Diego Parkway, El Cajon, CA 92019.Please sign the guest book at obituaries.uniontrib.com
