Leona Verna was born on a farm near Elysian, Minnesota, in LeSueur County on July 15, 1908 to Arthur and Mary (Block) Strunk. Leona attended LeSueur County country school, and Cleveland High School. She was united in marriage to George John Strunk of Janesville on June 4, 1930 at German Lake Lutheran Church. Leona was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville, and its Ladies Aid and Altar Guild. Leona also enjoyed her involvement in Mother's Study Club, Busy Fingers, Trinity Widow's Group, 500 Card Club, bowling league, and her Monday morning coffee group.
Leona is survived by her daughter Jane (Gill) Snyder of San Bernardino, CA, and her son George Strunk of Janesville; by 6 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; by her brother Dale Roemhildt of Elysian, and her sister-in-law Alice Roemhildt of Waterville.
She was preceded in death by her husband George John Strunk in 1978; by three brothers Harley, Marlow, and Clarence Roemhildt; by her sister Luella Amberg, daughter-in-law Elaine Strunk, and granddaughter Susie Gahler.
Honorary bearers are her grandsons: Bruce Strunk, Barry Strunk, John Snyder, David Snyder, and Michael Snyder.
