Arthur George Brammell, 57 of Granite City, Illinois, died Tuesday Nov. 28, 1972. He was born June 28, 1915. Survivors included his wife Alma Louise Berry Brammell, daughters Mrs. Norma Louise Brammell Marcus, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Mrs Ethel Brammell McCann of Granite City, Il., and Mrs. Dorothy Brammell Gardner, of Granite City, Il.
He was a member of the Word of Life Tabernacle. An obituary appeared in the Metro East Journal, East St.Louis, Illinois Nov 29, 1972.
Art was a great cook. He loved preparing the family meals when his work schedule would allow.
Daddy was a musician. He played the trumpet quit well. He played his horn at church services, and I remember well hearing him practice and play for his own enjoyment. His favorite hymn was "In The Garden". He was so excited when I joined the band to learn to play the horn. He wanted me to learn "In the Garden" first thing. I could hardly get a decent tone let alone play the hymn. My father had an interesting job in his younger years. He worked for the United States Atomic Energy Commission in 1947. He was Accident Investigator, Safety Branch, Los Alamos, New Mexico, USA. I have correspondence from the WAR DEPARTMENT and UNITED STATES ATOMIC ENERGY COMMISSION addressed to him documenting this job.
Art married Georgia L. Jamerson, July 18,1934. To this marriage was born one daughter, Norma Louise Brammell. Arthur was divorced from Georgia July 30, 1937. He later married Alma Louise Berry, July 18, 1938. To that union were born two daughters, Ethel May and Dorothy Ann.
