Florence Claris Hilding, the daughter of Joseph and Nancy (Gray) Cates, was born November 17, 1903 at Logan, Kansas. Florence died July 23, 2002 at Lancaster Manor in Lincoln, Nebraska at the age of 98 years, 8 months and 7 days.

Florence was raised in Kansas and Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Gus E. Hilding on March 16, 1924 at Willmar, Minnesota. They moved to Red Oak area in 1925, farming in the Red Oak community for many years. They later moved into the town of Red Oak. Florence worked at the Murphy Memorial Hospital in Red Oak for 25 years. Florence was a very active member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Red Oak and a member of the Summit Hill Ladies Club for 50 years. Florence moved to Lincoln, Nebraska in 1993. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gus on November 27, 1966, 3 brothers and 4 sisters.

Florence is survived by her daughter Norma Cady and her husband Neal of Lincoln, Nebraska; three grandchildren, Gerry Logan and his wife Sandra, Jeris Haney and her husband Richard, and Jeff Logan and his wife Lisa; all of Lincoln, Nebraska; six great grandchildren and 9 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews and friends.
