Gladys Mildred Cruce was born Dec. 12, 1907, in Bosque County. She was the seventh child born to Oscar and Mary Anderson. She was married to Melvon D. Cruce for 59 years. She received a bachelor of science degree from North Texas State Teachers College in 1944. She taught elementary school in the Fort Worth Public School system for many years, primarily at Diamond Hill Elementary.
Survivors: Son, Ervin D. Cruce of Fort Worth; daughter, Bettye Jo Cruce of Fort Worth; grandchildren, David A. Cruce of Lake Dallas, Cynthia A. Shlels of Aledo, Kenneth M. Cruce of Kerrville and Kimberly Blevins of Nashville, Tenn.; and eight great-grandchildren.
