The funeral of the late esteemed citizen, Jams A. Knight, was held at 2: 30 o'clock last Thursday afternoon under the auspices of Woodburn Lodge No. 106, A. F & A. M., of which he was a charter member and past W. M. The Masonic Temple was filled with sorrowing relatives and friends as the casket with the remains was borne there from Long's undertaking parlors accompanied by a long line of Masons. Four American flags were at each corner of the casket, which was also draped with a flag. They were placed there by the G. A. R. The services consisted of discourses highly eulogizing the memory of the deceased, by Rev. L. C. Poor, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church; Past Grand Master J. C. Moreland, and Rev. O. C. Weller, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Music was by a choir composed of Mrs. Bent Killin, Mrs. Minnie Richards, Mr. G. A. Landon and Mr. S, T, Johnson, the accompanist being Mrs. O. C. Weller. There were delegations from I. D. Stevens Post No. 51, G. A. R., of which Mr. Knight was commander at the time of his death; Woman's Relief Corps, and Evergreen Chapter No. 47, Order of Eastern Star, Mr. Knight also being a member of the Woodburn Chapter No. 29, Royal Arch Masons, who affiliated with the Blue Lodge in paying the last sad respects. At the grave in Belle Passi there were Masonic ritualistic services by Judge J. C. Moreland, appointed by Worshipful Master E. J. Stanard to act as master. The services were very impressive. Acting as pallbearers were J. C. Moore, Francis Feller, H. Overton, C. L. Ogle, T. Sims and W. J. Huntington. The uniform method adopted not long ago by the Grand Lodge for use in the Blue Lodges of the state was furnished by Mr. Knight, who was considered one of the best posted Masons in Oregon.
