“Nelle Shover Leigh, 92, of 322 Westwood Oaks Court, Kankakee, formerly of Galesburg, died at 11:35 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8, 1996, at her home. Born Sept. 27, 1904, in Franklin Co., Ohio, to Sidner Rusell Shover and Ida Belle Borror, she married B. Everett Leigh on Aug. 24, 1925, in Grove City, Ohio. He died June 10, 1990. Three sisters also preceded her in death. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Barbara) Harro of Kankakee and Mrs. Paul (Bonnie) Pitman of Guadalajara, Mexico; one sister, Lulu Canter of Grove City; nine grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She and her husband farmed in the Hermon area for many years before moving to Galesburg in 1954. She attended Ohio State University. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Galesburg. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Hinchliff-Pearson-West Galesburg Chapel. The Rev. Lee Johnson will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at the chapel. Burial will be in Abingdon Cem."
