Funeral Services Held Friday for Mrs. Alma Murdock
Mrs. Alma B. Murdock, age 94, of 202 North Carlysle, Abingdon, passed away at 3:00 P.M., Tuesday, Feb. 4, at the Abingdon Nursing Home, where she had resided the past three and one half years. Mrs. Murdock was born April 7, 1874 to Mark Bowton and Ophelia Bethard Bowton in Fulton County. She had been a resident of Abingdon since 1901. She is a former Abingdon elementary student and had attended Hedding College. She was a member of the Christian Church where she was a member of the Gleaner Class. Mrs. Murdock married Edward Murdock June 2, 1924. He preceded her in death Jan. 7, 1935. The only survivor was a brother, Mr. Louis M. Bowton, of Abingdon. Funeral services were held 2 P.M. Friday with Rev. Donald Hogan, pastor of the Christian Church, officiating. Burial was in the Abingdon Cemetery with the arrangements being in charge of the Larson Funeral Home. Organ selections were by Mrs. Harold Dunlap. Pallbearers were Carl Sand, C. J. VanderWert, Harold Lomax, Jim Bowton, Ross Rosenberry and Dr. J. A. Bowman.
