The first name was Abigal per her inscription and obituaries. Some Scannell family descendants varied the spelling to the more modern "Abigail", so family researchers should be aware of that variation.

Abigall was born in Ireland - a daughter of Michael and Ellen Casey.

Wife of Florence H. Scannell, married March 7, 1867.

Note: there have been variations found in sources attributing her death to be either Oct. 1, Oct. 2, Oct. 8, or Nov. 8, 1933. Based on the date her first death notice was published, in the Fairfield Ledger, the correct date is most likely Sunday, October 1, 1933.

It should be noted that Abigal and husband Florence were buried in the Old Fairfield City cemetery, not Evergreen cemetery. The two cemeteries are adjacent, but separate, but some death records and obituaries inadvertently stated that burial would be in Evergreen cemetery in Fairfield. That was an error as far as this memorial is concerned. Three children, Hugh, Anna, and Patrick are buried in Evergreen cemetery, however.
