On June 14, 1857, she married Rev. J. G. Evans, and shared with him the vicissitudes and trials of itinerant life. For twelve years she performed successfully the duties of Headmistress of Hedding College in Abingdon, IL. Her health was never good, and for twenty years she was an almost constant sufferer. Owing to ill health, she was relieved from duty in the college. Her administration as Headmistress was marked with prudence and wisdom, and her influence among the young ladies was uniformly good.
