Dennis attended kindergarten at Wells Elementary School and first grade at St. Margaret Mary's, the parish to which the Feeney's belonged during their first years in Wichita. After the family's move to a large historic home on University Avenue near Friends University, Dennis was enrolled at St. Joseph's School, which he attended until his mother's untimely death 1968. His father, having retired from the Army began a teaching career, sold the home, and moved the family to New Jersey to be near relatives.
Although life in New Jersey may have been what the senior Feeney needed at the time, his children did.not fare as well so far removed from their childhood friends. The two eldest, Paulette and Richard, returned to Wichita on their own in 1969, and the rest of the Feeney family followed soon after. Dennis graduated from North High School in 1971. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science from Wichita State University in 1976. Dennis and Sara became man and wife on January 7, 1977. Dennis, with Sara's support, received his Juris Doctorate Degree from Kansas University ir, 19'/9.
Dennis and Sara returned to Wichita upon his graduation and Dennis took a position as associate in the law firm of Morris Laing Evans Brock and Kennedy. He became a full partner in the firm in 1984.
Their first beautiful daughter, Molly Maureen, arrived on March 8, 1984,
with another beautiful daughter, Melissa Erin, arriving March 3, 1987. Dennis was a loving and devoted husband and a wonderful father to his "little girls."
Dennis is preceded in death by his mother, 1968, older brother Patrick, 1984, and father, 1999. His surviving siblings, Richard, Paulette, Maureen, and their families live in Hawaii. Dennis is also survived by two paternal aunts, two uncles, numerous cousins, and their families in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.
I would like to share a thank you from Sara: "I wish to thank everyone for the support they offered Dennis and our family throughout Dennis' iliness. And to everyone "thank you "for the strength you've helped me find during these most difficult days.
