Born to Arnold and Alma (Polfuss) Schauer in Westfield. She married Edward Leopold Frank Sept. 10, 1937 in Westfield.

Mildred was active in the first Homemakers Club (HCE) in Harrisville with its beginning in 1946, a member of St. John's Ladies Aid for 67 years holding many offices. She belonged to the Altar Guild, church choir and enjoyed a couple's card club and women's card club for many years. She and Ed operated Frank's Tavern in Harrisville, until their retirement in 1972, where she became famous for "Millie's Pizza." After selling the tavern, Mildred worked 17 years for Ellen Quinn at Village Fashions in Westfield. She also was a helpful worker at the Golden Horse Ranch. Being a "people person" all of her life she enjoyed family, friends and having fun. In her later years because of breathing problems, she had to rely on her family to help with housework, but that handicap didn't stop her from fishing on the Harrisville Pond. She would say, "If you don't catch any fish you don't have to clean any!" She loved being out in her little green boat, relaxing and enjoying the beauty of God's creation. Watching eagles, geese, ducks, deer coming to drink at waters edge, hearing the cranes and frogs, watching the sun set and the rising of the moon gave her much pleasure and peace. Coming home with 10-pound northern and five pound bass was a bonus. She and her husband of 67 years enjoyed playing cribbage every day and eating a few homemade ponczkis in between games. Recently she began writing the Harrisville News for the Marquette County Tribune. Talking on the phone with many Harris residents added to her joy and purpose these past months.
