Catherine Sears daughter of John Sears and Catherine Conrad was born 6 Jan 1779 in Rowan County, North Carolina. She moved with her family to Bourbon County, Kentucky at the end of 1796. There she married George Huffstutter who was born to Ulrich Huffstutter and Mary Baxter on 12 Jan 1779 in Maryland. Their marriage was performed on 5 Aug 1801 in Bourbon County, Kentucky by the minister Richard Thomas. John Sears and George Huffstutter were the bondsman. The tax records show that George Huffstutter lived in Bourbon County until 1816 and in the year 1818 he is in the Nicholas County, Kentucky tax.

Also in the year 1818 on 7 April George Huffstutter purchased lands in Harrison County Indiana in section 12 of township 2 range 4 NE. This land is sold to John Huffstutter on 16 Feb 1825. At this point George is living near John Hon Jr in section 3 of township 2 Range 4 NE which is near the town of Bradford. George appeared in 1819 and 1828 tax listed of Harrison County, Indiana. George purchased land from his father in law John Sears and his new wife Ana Margaret (Grimes) on 24 Dec 1833 because John Sears had moved back to Nicholas County, Kentucky and no longer need his farm. This farm was located in the North section of section 12 township 2 and range 4. Catherine and George were charter members of Bethel Meetinghouse at Dunkard Meetinghouse in Bradford Indiana in July 1833. They attended until their deaths.

Catherine (Sears) Huffstutter died 23 Jul 1852 and following is her obituary:
Obituary pg 64 of "Christian Record" date September 1852 or August handwritten September. Vol III series II Bradford, Ind. July 26th, 1852 Bro. Mathes--Departed this life on Friday 2 o'clock A.M. July 23rd. our beloved sister Katherine Huffstutter, consort of George Huffstutter, and mother of David S. Huffstutter of Orange County. The deceased at the time of her death was 73 years 6 months and 5 days old, having been a member of the church near 40 years. She was baptized by Elder Peter Hon in Ky., and lived a pious member of the church from that time till her death. She will be greatly missed by her husband, children, and church, but we weep not as those who have no hope. "Then why so unwilling to part, Since there we shall all meet again, Engraved on Immanuel's heart, At a distance we cannot remain." G.H. Hon

George Huffstutter died abt 1861. It is thought that both George and Catherine are buried at Westside Huffstutter Cem. This is a cemetery on a farm and it is reported that the tombstones were removed by the farmer. No one has checked this out by 2008.

Catherine Sears and George Huffstutter her husband had the following children.

1. George Huffstutter Jr born 5 Dec 1801 in Bourbon County, Kentucky and married Barbara Sears 8 Mar 1821 in Harrison County, Indiana. Barbara was born 6 Jul 1805 in Bourbon County, Kentucky to John Sears and Catherine Conrad. George died 11 Jul 1872 Craig, Holt Co., Missouri and buried at Williams Cem. His wife Barbara died 17 Jan 1886 Craig, Holt Co., Missouri. Their children are: David Lewis Huffstutter, James Harvey Huffstutter and Martha E Huffstutter.

2. Jacob Huffstutter born 31 Jan 1802 Bourbon County, Kentucky. Jacob married Hannah Hostetler daughter of Adam Hostetler and his wife Hannah Hardman on 11 Sep 1828 by Adam Sears Minister of the Gospel in Clark County, Indiana. Jacob Huffstutter is buried in Olive Branch Cem., Clark County, Indiana and died 28 Jun 1856. HIs wife died 26 Jan 1888 Indiana. They had the following children: Catherine Elizabeth Huffstutter, George Washington Huffstutter, Mary Ann Huffstutter, Sarah Ann Huffstutter, and Jane Henrietta Huffstutter.

3. David Sears Huffstutter was born 21 Sep 1808 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. David was married to Polly A Bower 24 May 1832 in Washington County. Polly was the daughter of Solomon Bower and Jennie Parr. Polly was born 5 May 1811 in Clark County, Indiana. She died in Orange County, Indiana on 29 Apr 1879 and was buried next to her husband at I.O.O.F. Cem. Orange County, Indiana. David died 28 Aug 1890 in Orange County, Indiana. They had the following children: Andrew J Huffstutter, Washington B Huffstutter, David Jefferson Huffstutter, and Solomon J Huffstutter.

4. Catherine Huffstutter was born 13 Sep 1814 in Bourbon County, Kentucky. She married John Hostetler 28 Jan 1830 in Floyd County, Indiana. Catherine and her husband both died in Whitesboro, Texas, she died 14 Mar 1871 and he died 20 Oct 1882. John Hostetler's parents were Adam Hostetler and Hannah Hardmann. Catherine and her husband John had the following children: David Clinton, George Franklin, Sarah Jane, John Jacob, Adam Benton, Mary Catherine, and Worth Washington.
