Daniel Burch, son of Daniel Burch and Rebecca Dumford, born 1803 in Boone County, Ky.; he came to Utah in 1848 with his family. In 1853 he and his sons built the first grist mill and saw mill on Weber River. Burch Creek is named after pioneer Daniel Burch.

Burch Creek was incorporated on July 6, 1936; the name was changed and the town of South Ogden was established.
