Funeral services for Mr. Richard Griffin, 61, who died at his home January 12, 1953, were held Wednesday January 14, at Henderson Chapel Church, with Elder Ashley Griffin, Elder Guy Smith and Elder J. J. Johnson officiating. Interment was in the Henderson Chapel Cemetery.
Mr. Griffin was born and reared in Irwin County, the son of Mr. B. B. Griffin and Mrs. Rachel McMillian Griffin. Until he became ill, Mr. Griffin's occupation was a tree surgeon.
Active pallbearers included Lorie Walters, Raymond Griffin, Webster Griffin, Elton Griffin, Harmon Griffin and Hartwell Paulk.
Honorary pallbearers were: Bates Whitley, E. E. Henderson, Ennis Fletcher, Jacob Paulk, Albert Benson, Mr. Hogan, Oliver Tucker, Tom Griffin, John Wilcox, Johnny Harper, Marvin Hunter, John Henderson, Jack Veal and Warren McMillan.
