Jasper L. Gifford, 63, who sold newspapers at the corner of Broadway and S. 6th Ave., was found dead in his room at 327 S. 4th Avenue yesterday. Police said that Gifford had apparently died of a heart attack.
Gifford's body was discovered by William V. Irvin, owner of the house where he lived. Irvin said he had gone to buy a paper and when he couldn't find Gifford went to his room to investigate.
Gifford had lived in Tucson for the past five years. He was born in Iowa.
Survivors include a brother, Charles of New Albin, Iowa; and four sisters, Mrs. Mary Everist of San Diego, California, Mrs. William Shaffer of Anaheim, California, and Mrs. Vivian Hartwell and Mrs. Rhoda Stewart, both of Marshalltown, Iowa.
