Mrs. Robert Best passed peacefully at her home south east of this city on Thursday March 17th, after an illness of sixteen months, the funeral and burial taking place at the Ivy church and cemetery the following day, conducted by Rev. S. A. Lanning, of Allen. Lydia J. Bend was a native of Ohio, coming to Kansas about 1890 when she was married to Uncle Bob Best, one of the best citizens and pioneer settlers of this section. The deceased was a woman well known and highly respected by all who knew her and leaves three children, husband and sister to mourn her loss in this their sad hour of bereavement, and the JOURNAL with many other friends joins in extending sympathy to the surviving members of the family in this their sad hour of life.
