Barlo was born March 26, 1923 in Galva, Illinois, the son of Victor and Felicitas (Alvarado) Alvarado. He married Florentine "Flora" Ballester December 16, 1948 in Marseille, France. She preceded him in death September 20, 2007.
He was reared and educated in Kewanee Schools. Barlo was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in the European Theater during World War II. He was awarded two bronze stars, the Purple Heart and the combat infantryman badge, among other decorations.
He was also preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and one sister.
Surviving are two sons, Robert Alvarado of Ottawa, IL and Bruce (Mary) Alvarado of Fortville, IN; two daughters, Kathryn Alvarado of Freeport, IL and Jacquelin Leimer of Chicago, IL; and four grandchildren, Jordan, David, Jack and Mark.
Barlo worked for many years at the Kewanee Boiler Company from which he retired.
He enjoyed his old cars and spending time with family and friends.
Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery, Kewanee, with Military Honors accorded by the Kewanee Veterans Council at a later date.
