Mr Arthur Barker, 74, of Wells, died early Wednesday morning at his residence in Wells after a long illness.
Funeral services for Mr Barker will be held at 2 pm Thursday in the Wells First Baptist Church with Rev O P Meadows officiating, assisted by Rev Ben F Morrison. Interment will be in Mr Hope Cemetery,with graveside services under the auspices of the Wells Masonic Lodge.
Born in Milam County TX on March 22, 1882, Mr Barker had lived in Wells for the past 69 years. He was a retired farmer, a member of the Wells Masonic Lodge 915, and an active member of the Wells First Baptist Church for the past 48 years.
The remains will lie in state in the family residence in wells until service time.
Survivors include one son, Morris Barker of Wells; three daughters, Miss Una Mae Barker of Wells, Mrs. C A Baldwin of Mexia and Mrs J H Dunn Jr, of Dayton, TX; three sisters, Mrs Temple Stores of Wichita, Kansas, Mrs Rea Dennis of Port Arthur and Mrs Alpha McCoy of Tyler; one brother, Emory Barker of Tyler and seven grandchildren
