Ruth Loretta Shane, 89 of Taopi, passed away peacefully at home on Thursday November 3rd, 2011.
A life long resident of the area Ruth was born March 8, 1922 in Grand Meadow, MN to Floyd and Loretta Robb. Ruth was married to Robert A. Shane on April 24, 1940 at Grand Meadow, MN.
Ruth was a mother to all and loved to sit at her table and watch the birds. She was a great cook and loved having company on Sundays. She also enjoyed doing puzzles. Aside from being a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, she was homemaker, gardener, farmer and great cook, known for her sauerkraut and dumplings. She said "I loved my family, raised my kids, raised my garden and chickens".
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Robert, 2 sons, Johnny and Gene, 3 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by, daughters and sons-in-law; Shirley and Paul Jarcho, Minneapolis, MN, Jacqueline Shane, Salinas, CA, Donna and Mike Kilby, Austin, MN, Connie and Richard Kruse, Meyer, IA, Sons and daughters-in-law, David Shane, Casper, WY, Bill and Connie Shane, Baraboo, WI, Tom and Leah Shane, Zumbrota, MN, Richard Shane, Taopi, MN, Mary Shane, Riceville, IA 23 Grandchildren, 45 Great grandchildren, 11 Great great grandchildren.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday November 7th, 2001 at 11:00 AM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Adams, MN with Father Thomas Loomis officiating. Interment will be at the Sacred Heart Cemetery. Friends may call at the Adams Funeral Home from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Sunday and at the church on Monday morning for one hour before the service. The family prefers memorials.
