Leonard's father was William Severns 1800-1887, for which there is no FindAGrave memorial.

The "History of the Tredway Family" (1930), pp. 102-103 (available on Ancestry.com), in the entry for Hannah Treadway b. 1805-1859, says Hannah was the sister of the author's grandfather. The entry says she married William Severns in 1823, they had 13 children, and "Hannah Treadway Severns, the mother of these thirteen children, died November 9, 1859. William Severns died February 17, 1887."

The 1870 and 1880 Census records show William Severns living in Newcastle, Coshocton County, Ohio, with some of his children (Mary, Samuel, Christine, Crispen, Ransom, Almeda), and wife Rachel (presumably his second wife).
