Sallie Almira True was born on October 24, 1850, in Athens, Ohio, her father, Mason, was 30, and her mother, Esther, was 26. She married Joseph Governor Ross in 1879. They had six children in 10 years; Nellie J, Albert, Myrtle Elizabeth, George Amos, Findley Mason and Lucy Esther. The Rosses participated in the Sooner Run and were early Oklahoma Pioneers. They were members of the Methodist Church in Union City.
She died on July 17, 1923, in Union City, Oklahoma, at the age of 72, and was buried there.
