Winfield S Bailey, son of Josiah Jacob Bailey and Rosannah Matilda Gill, was born in Cedar Township, Van Buren County, Iowa, the sixth of eleven known children. He came to York County NE from Iowa and is first found in the Nebraska 1885 Census as a farm hand with the Samuel Cain Family.

He married Ellen Carrol Blake about 1897 and they are found in the 1900 Census at Lamar, Chase County Nebraska in the 1910-1920-1930 Census. Winfield's brother Josiah Willis Bailey also worked a farm close by as noted by the 1900 Census.

Per the Lamar Cemetery aka Green Lawn Cemetery Burial Index found at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~swnegen/lamarcemetery.htm, Willis Bailey is buried at A38-E1, Winfield S Bailey is buried at A38-E2, and wife Ellen Carroll Blake Bailey is buried at A38-E3.

The cemetery burial index only notes the dates of 1861-1928 so we are hoping that a photo of the gravestone will provide more detail. HOWEVER LDS New Mexico Death Records from 1889-1945 notes Winfield S Bailey died at Albuquerque NM May 19, 1928 at the age of 66 with parents noted as Josiah Bailey and Rosanna Gills [sic].

Any additional information about Winfield S Bailey or his wife Ellen Carroll Blake Bailey or his brother Willis would be very much appreciated.
