Married October 20, 1920 to Ella Viola Volle Richardson, 1879-1930 who died at Richland, Marshall County, Kansas.

JOHN W. RICHARDSON
John Wilbur Richardson was born December 27, 1897, and died May 11, 1980 at the Pawnee Manor after a long illness. He was born on a farm near Summerfield, Kansas to Charles and Viola McKamey Richardson.He was a member of the Presbyterian Church. He attended school at Bookwalter and graduated from Summerfield High School.

He enlisted in the Army in World War I, in 1917, and served his country.

On October 20, 1920 he was united in marriage to Ella Volle at Beatrice, Nebraska. They resided on a farm south of Summerfield, Kansas. To this union four children were born, Helen, Harold (Bud), Willa and Keith.

On June 24, 1930 Ella suddenly passed away, leaving John alone to serve both as father and mother to his family, whose age ranged from fifteen months to seven years. In 1938, the family moved to a farm south of Pawnee City.

Preceding him in death were his parents, his wife, Ella, his brothers, Archie and Harold Clair, who was killed in action October 29, 1944, at the age of 23. A son, Harold (Bud) was killed in action in World War II, May 15, 1945, at the age of 21. An infant great grandson also preceded him in death.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Leonard (Helen) Church of Table Rock, Nebraska, Mrs. walter (Willa) Moyer of Humboldt, Nebraska; a son, Keith of Pawnee City, Nebraska; seventeen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.

John devoted his entire life to farming in the Summerfield and Pawnee City areas.

With all the adversity in life, John was cheerful and always had a smile.

"Grandpa John" as he was called by his grandchildren, was a devoted and loving grandfather who will be remembered with many fond memories. He will be deeply missed.

Burial was in the Summerfield Cemetery.
