Mrs. Muriel (Window) Turnley of Fort Lauderdale, former owner and operator of the Peacock Lounge at Arnolds Park, Iowa, died Sunday in a hospital at Fort Lauderdale following a brief illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at Pompano Beach, Florida.
Until her recent illness she sang nightly in a restaurant she owned called the Jade House. Her third husband, Howard Turnley, died in 1946.
She was a well known opera singer, vaudeville actress and a 1913 Peacock Girl of the Ziegfeld Follies and made her stage debut at the age of three as an angel in Uncle Tom's Cabin in her home town, Burlingame, Kansas.

The "Peacock Girl" of vaudeville, Muriel Hanford Turnley, 75, who for many years operated the Peacock nightclub in Arnolds Park, died last Sunday at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
She moved to Florida in 1954 where she operated Muriel's Jade House. She also had a number of other business in the Arnolds Park - Milford area.
As a vaudeville star between 1910 and 1920, the "Peacock Girl" played the RKO and Orpheum circuits, the Place in New York and Drury Lane in London.
She divorced actor Robert Emmett Keane in 1920 to marry a Sioux City millionaire, Arthur S. Hanford. They were divorced before his death in a 1935 airplane crash.
She married Howard C. Turnley in 1934. He died in 1946. She was an ambulance driver in World War I and a WAC in World War II.
Earlier this year she was singing and playing the organ at night spots in Des Moines, Iowa, and elsewhere to raise money for buses to donate to a crippled children's home.
